Team TTPN Pot Rockets yesterday came on top in the Nedkitchen Cook-Off Challenge where they cooked their way to a E5 000 win.

The event held at Sharma House was made possible by Nedbank Eswatini in celebration of Africa Month.

Four teams who were Nedbank employees (Nedbankers) entered the cook-out with a mix of local cuisine with the most popular ingredients being sweet potatoes and groundnuts.

With creative, but relative names the teams were called Kuvutsiwe Kitchen, Umsoco, Thyme Queens and TTPN Pot Rockets, the teams had to cook three courses.

One of the main pointers made during the judging process was the teams limiting themselves to only local ingredients.

Team TTPN Pot Rockets secures a E5 000 win in the Nedbank Nedkitchen Cook-Off Challenge celebrating Africa Month with creative local cuisine.

“The theme is Africa Month so you could have used ingredients from any African country like Morocco, but it is a learning curve,” said Private Chef Brian Mohammed.

Other judges were celebrity judge Eswatini Observer acting Managing Director Mbongeni Mbingo, owner of Mug n Bean Sindi Simelane and Nedbank Eswatini Head of Audit Nkosingphile Gule. The teams were given three hours to come up with a three course meal, starting with starters, main and deserts.

Mbingo revealed that the winning team started off slow and recorded the lowest score, but were able shoot up as their desert of corn bread and fruits was their crowning glory.

The event was graced by Nedbank Eswatini Managing Director Fikile Nkosi, Chief Operations Officer Lindani Dlamini and Chief Finance Officer Nosimilo Simelane.
