Murder-accused pastor Nkosingiphile Allen Zwane is continuing to preach the gospel from behind bars, according to his mother, Alice Simelane.
Zwane is currently in custody facing charges in connection with the alleged murders of four women at the Apostolic Faith Church International in Mfabantfu.
Speaking during a church service held at the Mfabantfu branch, Simelane reflected on her son’s role in the church and described him as a committed servant of God who was passionate about his pastoral duties and spreading the gospel.
The service marked the resumption of worship at the church after it had been closed for more than a month following the tragedy.
Simelane said Zwane’s dedication to his faith had not wavered despite his arrest and subsequent incarceration.
She said people who had visited her son in prison had told her that he continued preaching and ministering to fellow inmates.
“People who have visited him in prison have told me that he is busy doing the work of God even behind bars,” Simelane said.
Simelane also extended her condolences to congregants who had been under Zwane’s leadership, acknowledging the emotional impact of the events that led to the church’s temporary closure.
She said her son had been deeply committed to his pastoral responsibilities and had dedicated himself to serving the church and spreading the word of God.
However, despite her belief in her son’s commitment to his faith, Simelane said she would not seek to have him released on bail.
She maintained that Zwane must face the law and answer to the allegations against him over the deaths of the four women.
