SOCCER – New Manzini Wanderers signing Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko is confident the maroon and white giants will avoid the dreaded relegation axe.


The maroon and white giants are desperate for points and are looking to turn around their season with the addition of experienced players like ‘Samba Jive’. The former Mbabane Swallows player joins fellow veterans Sifiso ‘Tjovitjo’ Maseko and South African import Siphamandla Dhlamini in the Wanderers ranks.

The speedy right winger said he was always positive in life and confident that Wanderers would start collecting points in the MTN Premier League second round.

“I believe we can escape relegation. As long as the new players gel quickly and play as a unit with the current squad. What is important in football is combinations and as the experienced guys come in, they need to mix with talented youngsters,” he said.

‘Samba Jive’, who started his career with now defunct Gege Happy Stars before joining Denver Sundowns in 1999, will be with Wanderers until the end of the season.

The former Sihlangu international has also played for South Africa’s Premier Soccer League sides Black Leopards and Platinum Stars. He also appeared for that country’s NFD sides, FC AK, where he was teammates with Siza ‘King Pele’ Dlamini at some point, and Blackburn Rovers.

Upon his return, he joined Malanti Chiefs before signing for the all-conquering Mbabane Swallows team.

“To the fans, I can only encourage them to believe in the process as the team will definitely turn the corner.

“They must rally behind the team, even in bad moments, as such support can make a big difference,” he added.

‘Samba Jive’s Wanderers debut is expected to be an away game against former team Malanti Chiefs at the Killarney Stadium on Sunday.
