A Cameroonian delegate attending an international conference in the country has died after collapsing yesterday morning.

Government confirmed the sad passing in a press statement. Acting Government Spokesperson Thabile Mdluli said; “Government conveys with profound sorrow the news of the sudden passing of a delegate of Cameroonian nationality in the kingdom this morning.

“The deceased was among the officials attending the 17th European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) User Forum for Africa held in Matsapha. The delegate collapsed and was urgently attended by the health team, who rushed him to hospital.

“On arrival, his condition rapidly deteriorated and he passed on,” Mdluli said last night.

She said the family of the deceased had been notified about the sad news, adding that government was working closely with the bereaved family and the relevant authorities in Cameroon to facilitate the repatriation of his remains.

Mdluli further extended government’s deepest and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, colleagues and the government and people of Cameroon following the sudden and tragic loss.

The EUMETSAT User Forum for Africa is currently underway in Matsapha.
