Veteran African National Congress (ANC) member Hezekiah Shoti Lukhele, aged 92, was visited by former ANC president Jacob Zuma, accompanied by Zweli Mkhize.


He was visited at Moneni following his admission at Manzini Clinic after a mild stroke.

Lukhele, who was married to Princess Msalela, daughter of King Sobhuza II, and later to Princess Khombisile, daughter of Prince Mshoshi of Moneni, has long been recognised for his role in the struggle.

His wish to meet Zuma and Mkhize was fulfilled when the cadres arrived to pay their respects to their fellow elder.

The family warmly welcomed the visitors, with Lukhele’s daughters and sons present. His daughter Thabsile Lukhele-Thwala played a central role in communicating with the delegation throughout the visit.

Manzini businessman Itallo Dlamini, who was raised by Lukhele, conveyed the veteran’s joy at the occasion.

Lukhele’s daughter Cacile shared that her father expressed his happiness at seeing comrades who stood with him in the struggle and it was a moment of deep pride for the whole family.

She shared that it was a memorable day for him and the whole family. She extended appreciation to the whole delegation and shared that the day was a success.
