SOCCER – The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has confirmed that the 2026/27 transfer window will officially open on July 27 and close on October 2, giving clubs just over two months to strengthen their squads ahead of the new campaign.

According to an official circular issued by the governing body, a strict hard deadline has also been implemented for late registrations. The EFA stated that under the authority of FIFA regulations regarding the status and transfer of players, and to safeguard the integrity of local competitions, no player will be allowed to register after Friday, October 23.

This absolute cut-off applies even to players who meet the criteria to register outside the initial window, unless verified exceptional circumstances are proven.

With the new football season expected to kick off in August, coaches across the league will be eager to complete their transfer business early to allow for proper pre-season integration. However, the length of the window may also lead to protracted negotiations, with some players holding out for better deals closer to the deadline.

As the countdown begins, much of the focus will be on the traditional ‘Big Three’ clubs, who are expected to be highly active in the market.

Meanwhile, defending champions Nsingizini Hotspurs are likely to look to reinforce their dominant squad as they prepare for another intense domestic and continental push.

The EFA has also outlined the schedule for the mid-season window. The second registration period is set to commence on January 7 and will close on February 1.

In line with the protocols established for the first window, no player registrations will be permitted after February 26, even if a player qualifies for an outside-window registration, unless explicitly permitted under the exceptional circumstances outlined by the association.
