SOCCER – A bold declaration! Mbabane Highlanders marksman Msimisi Zwane has thrown down the gauntlet, boldly declaring that he will score more than 38 goals this season, a target inspired by the number on his jersey.

Zwane made the powerful proclamation moments after being crowned Man of the Match during yesterday’s heated and chaotic MTN Premier League clash against Young Buffaloes.

The match, played before a charged crowd, saw the Black Bull edge Buffaloes 2-1, courtesy of a first-half brace from the in-form striker Msimisi Zwane.

The two goals took his season tally to five, solidifying his position as Highlanders’ leading goal scorer in all competitions.

Reflecting on his performance, Zwane said his dream of smashing the league’s goal-scoring charts was not far-fetched, especially given the unity and determination within the squad.

“Anything is possible as long as we work together as players,” he said.

Highlanders started the match with high intensity, immediately unsettling the Buffaloes backline.

Zwane needed only minutes to break the deadlock, finishing with the composure of a man in red-hot form.

He doubled the advantage shortly after, sending the Bull supporters into wild celebration. Though Buffaloes pulled one back later, the damage had already been done.

Despite the on-field brilliance, the clash was overshadowed by officials’ chaos inside the channels, which briefly disrupted play.

Security personnel were forced to intervene as tempers flared in the stands, an incident that both clubs are expected to address.

Zwane urged supporters to match the team’s discipline on the field.

“We fought the war together as players. The same unity must be shown by our fans. We need them to support us positively,” he said.

Top in the goal-scoring charts is Rangers FC striker Hleliso Gamedze, closely followed by Tabankulu Celtics young star Malangeni Dlamini.
