Golfer Mzwandile Mamba emerged as the overall winner of the fifth edition of the Luphohlo Commodities Monthly Mug after carding an impressive 69 points at Mananga Golf Course.
Mamba’s victory came in a competitive field with golfers battling for honours in the latest edition of the monthly tournament. Consistency and composure proved decisive as he edged out his closest challengers.
Mlungisi Simelane finished second with 70 points, just one point behind the eventual winner. Moses Sifundza, Sanele Kunene and Bheki Magagula completed the leading positions as the tournament attracted a strong field of golfers.
The Best Gross prize went to Valentine Maziya, who recorded 76 points. The tournament also featured several novelty prizes, adding to the excitement among participants.
Fortune Ngwenya claimed the Nearest to the Pin prize at hole 2/11 while veteran golfer Victor Masilela took the honours at hole 5/14.
Mananga Golf Club captain Fikile Mdluli expressed satisfaction with the continued growth of the tournament, saying the club was encouraged by the strong response from golfers.
Mdluli said the latest edition demonstrated the steady progress of the competition, particularly in terms of participation and the standard of golf on display.
“We are impressed with the way the tournament has been proceeding over the past editions. We are grateful to Luphohlo Commodities for continuing to support and host the tournament,” said Mdluli.
She noted that attendance had improved and the quality of competition continued to rise, describing the trend as encouraging for the growth of golf at the club. The captain also thanked the golfers who continued to support the monthly mug, saying their participation remained vital to keeping the tournament vibrant.
With the competition attracting an increasing number of players, the Luphohlo Commodities Monthly Mug is steadily establishing itself as an important fixture on the Mananga Golf Club calendar.
