His Majesty King Mswati III has thanked the public for its contributions during tetfulo in preparation for the upcoming double celebration marking his birthday and 40 years on the throne.

Addressing the nation, the king commended the spirit of unity and generosity demonstrated by citizens from all walks of life.

He noted that the contributions whether small or big reflected the love and respect the nation holds for the monarchy and the country at large. He emphasised that the celebrations were not only about him as an individual, but the nation as a whole.

The king expressed gratitude for the array of items presented, including livestock, agricultural produce and financial contributions. He stated that these offerings would play a significant role in ensuring that the forthcoming celebrations are successful and that visitors from within and outside the country are well catered for.

“What you have brought today is significant. We have seen cattle, chickens of all kinds, fruits and cheques. Even the smallest contribution means a lot towards the celebration that is coming,” said the king.

His Majesty King Mswati III has thanked the nation for its unity and generosity during tetfulo ahead of his 58th birthday and Ruby Jubilee celebrations.

He further highlighted that the preparations for the double celebration required unity, cooperation and collective effort from all citizens.

Drawing comparison with bees, the king explained that just as bees work together to gather food and sustain their hive, the nation must work together for the success of the celebrations.

“In a large event such as this, unity and teamwork are essential. Like bees, which gather together and share what they have worked for, we must also come together as a nation to ensure success,” he said.

The king also pointed out that the evolving nature of tetfulo reflected the development of the country. He explained that in the past contributions were largely limited to cattle and traditional items such as imigcwembe. However, in modern times, citizens now present a variety of goods and financial contributions, indicating economic growth and diversification.

“In the past, tetfulo mainly consisted of cattle and traditional items. Today, we see a wide range of contributions, including money amounting to millions. This clearly shows that the country is developing,” he said, adding that the success of the double celebration would symbolise the success of the nation itself.

The king stressed that contributions were not only limited to material items, but also included the hospitality and care that citizens would extend to visitors during the celebrations.

“Every contribution brought here symbolises what comes from the heart. Some people think the king has everything, but that is not the case. What matters is the spirit behind the giving, and we have even seen young people participating. May God bless you all,” he said.
