THRONGS of young people yesterday descended on police regional headquarters across the four regions for the first day of the three-day recruitment for Constable II posts.
Queues were stretching as early as 2:30am in Hhohho, 3am in Manzini and 6am in Shiselweni and Lubombo and thousands still in line by 4pm.
In a recruitment advertisement, the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) said it intends to fill a limited number of vacant Constable II positions, with prospective candidates expected to satisfy a range of eligibility requirements.
Applicants must be citizens of Eswatini aged between 21 and 35, physically fit, have normal eyesight without spectacles and possess good character, with no previous criminal convictions.
Academically, candidates were required to possess authentic Form V, SGCSE, IGCSE, GCE, O-Level, COSC or Matric certificates, with a minimum of three credits and a pass in English.
Those who successfully meet the initial requirements will proceed to the next stages of recruitment, which include a written aptitude test, physical fitness assessment and oral interview.
Successful recruits will be remunerated in accordance with government salary scales applicable to Constable II officers.
The police have advised interested candidates to personally submit their applications at their nearest Police Regional Headquarters from yesterday tomorrow between 8am and 4pm. Applicants were required to attach a recently taken passport-size photograph, academic certificates, national identity document, birth certificate, educational testimonials, curriculum vitae and a driver’s licence, where available.
The police have further cautioned aspiring recruits against falling victim to employment scammers, urging them to remain vigilant and not entertain anyone demanding money in exchange for securing a position in the police service.
