SOCCER – Royal Leopards have officially secured the services of prolific forward Hleliso ‘Madlenya’ Gamedze, signing him to a two-year contract following successful negotiations with Rangers.

As exclusively reported by this publication, the two sides finalised the deal, which was confirmed during an official unveiling held yesterday morning at the club’s headquarters.

Gamedze was unveiled alongside Tebogo ‘Juries’ Dlamini, who has returned to Leopards after being recalled from a loan spell at MulaSport National First Division side Red Rhinos.

Leopards Chairman Richard ‘Danka’ Fakudze expressed delight at finally landing the highly sought-after forward, revealing that patience and persistence were required to complete the deal.

“The player is now officially on the books of Royal Leopards and we are happy to have him. There is no need to introduce him as he has already proven his capabilities on the field.

“As management, we commit ourselves to supporting him just as we have supported other players. Some of us have played for this club before and now serve in management, and we hope he will follow in those footsteps,” Fakudze said.

Fakudze also extended his appreciation to Rangers and the player’s family for facilitating what he described as smooth and professional negotiations.

“Special thanks go to his former club and his family. Without their cooperation, this deal would not have been possible. Everyone understood that the priority was the best interest of the player. This is just the beginning of brighter things,” he added.

When asked about the transfer fee involved, Fakudze declined to disclose figures, stating that the details would remain confidential between the two clubs.

Gamedze expressed gratitude to Rangers for giving him the platform to showcase his talent and earn a move to one of the country’s top sides.

“I would like to thank Rangers management for allowing me to join my new home. I do not want to make too many promises, but I will give my best. Everything is in God’s hands. I am happy to be here and look forward to contributing to the team,” he said.

The forward arrives at Leopards with high expectations, having enjoyed a remarkable goal-scoring run at Rangers. He currently sits on 10 league goals and has also won the Player of the Month award for October this season.

Gamedze will wear the famous jersey number 20, previously donned by one of the country’s finest forwards, Zweli ‘Mlilo’ Nxumalo, adding further significance to his arrival at the police side.
