TWO years later, the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) says preparations for the next Miss Eswatini pageant are underway, with an interim committee expected to be announced soon.
ENCAC Chief Executive Officer Stanley Dlamini said the organisation was currently finalising the appointment of an interim committee that will oversee preparations for the country’s next national beauty pageant.
He said interviews for suitable candidates were taking place and the committee could be announced as early as next week if the process was completed on time.
“We are interviewing suitable candidates who will serve on the interim committee. If we finish the process quickly, we hope to announce the committee next week,” said Dlamini.
The committee will be responsible for planning and organising the next Miss Eswatini competition following the crowning of Temvelo Nicole Mtsetfwa in 2024.
Dlamini said one of the committee’s main responsibilities would be preparing Eswatini’s participation in the Miss Universe 2026 competition, which will be hosted in Tanzania.
“We are looking forward to seeing Eswatini participate in Miss Universe 2026. The interim committee will take the lead in preparing for that process and ensuring the country is represented,” he said.
The announcement comes as other countries have already started preparations for their national competitions. South Africa has officially announced its Top 24 finalists for Miss South Africa 2026 as it begins its journey towards selecting its representative.
Dlamini said ENCAC wanted to ensure that the country had a proper process that would produce a strong representative for international competitions.
“Our goal is to have a transparent and credible process that gives young women an opportunity to compete and represent the country with pride. With the interim committee expected to be announced soon, attention will now turn to preparations for the next Miss Eswatini pageant and the kingdom’s participation on the international stage,” he said.
Asked about the ongoing Miss Eswatini prize vehicle dispute, Dlamini said the organisation would allow the legal process to continue.
“We believe in the legal process and we will allow it to take its course,” he said.
