MBABANE – Eswatini Mobile has recognised employees for exceptional performance during its quarterly Red Star Awards, a peer-driven recognition programme that celebrates staff members who consistently go above and beyond in their roles.

The awards, which are decided through nominations and voting by fellow employees, recognise individuals who have distinguished themselves in customer service, sales, innovation, operational excellence, risk management and living the company’s values.

The ceremony culminated in the announcement of the Overall Red Star winner, with Phangisile Gama taking the top honour after also being named the Best Risk and Fraud winner. Innocent Vilakati was named the second Overall Red Star winner after receiving the Best Innovation Award.

In recognition of their achievements, Gama and Vilakati each walked away with a trip to Cape Town for themselves and their partners, as well as E20,000 spending money.

The remaining category winners were Gcina Dlamini, who received the Best Customer Service Award, Njabulo Sihlongonyane, who won the Best Sales Award, Nomalungelo Mabuza, who was recognised for Operational Excellence and Ncamiso Shongwe, who received the Value Champion Award.

Chief Executive Officer Sydney Sichula presented the awards and congratulated the recipients for earning the respect and recognition of their colleagues.

He said the Red Star Awards had become an important part of the company’s culture because they placed employees at the centre of recognising excellence. “You have worked hard and this is our way of thanking you and saying ‘we see you'”, he said.

Head of People and Culture Welile Msibi said recognising exceptional performance was an important way of showing appreciation for employees who consistently gave their best.

“Performance recognition motivates employees to continue striving for excellence while inspiring others to grow in their own roles. When people know their efforts are valued by both their colleagues and the organisation, it strengthens engagement and builds a culture where excellence becomes the standard,” said Msibi.

The Red Star Awards are held every quarter to celebrate employees who consistently deliver outstanding results while supporting their teams and contributing to the company’s growth. The programme encourages employees to maintain high standards and acknowledges the role they play in delivering value to customers and the business.
