MOVIE and series lovers are set to enjoy more tailored entertainment as DStv introduces a dedicated package, offering subscribers more viewing options at different prices.
The new DStv Movies and Series package will bring together channels such as M-Net, movie channels, Discovery Channel and BBC Earth, giving viewers access to a selection of films, series and documentaries in one package.
The package will cost E500 per month as part of a revamped DStv line-up aimed at catering for different viewing preferences and budgets.
The changes form part of a wider update by MultiChoice Group, a Canal+ company, which is reshaping its subscription options to better suit customers’ entertainment interests. MultiChoice Eswatini Managing Director Phumi Drummond said the changes followed feedback from customers who wanted packages that better matched the content they watched.
“We saw that movie lovers do not get this advantage, so we want to give subscribers better value and access to the entertainment they love,” she said.
The new Movies and Series package replaces DStv Compact as a general entertainment option, bringing together content for viewers who prefer films and television series. The refreshed movie offering will include M-Net Movies+, M-Net Stars and M-Net Legends, with more blockbuster films, quicker access to new releases and fewer repeats.
Drummond said the aim was to make DStv more accessible by giving customers options based on their interests rather than requiring them to pay for channels they rarely watched.
The changes will also affect entry-level viewers, with DStv Access becoming DStv Starter. The revised package will add 10 channels, including Wethu+, which will offer local and international series previously available on higher packages.
Meanwhile, DStv Family will become DStv Select, bringing together entertainment options for households, including films, local and international series, and children’s channels. The new line-up is designed to give viewers clearer choices, whether they prefer local stories, international productions or a mix of both.
MultiChoice also plans to continue investing in African productions, with ‘Spinners’ season two among the titles viewers can expect. Drummond said the company had reworked its packages to reflect changing viewing habits and provide more affordable access to content.
“We have reimagined our packages to better reflect how customers watch today,” she said.
The new packages will launch under the DStv Expect+ campaign on November 5.
