A man sought by police for alleged contempt of court has become the subject of numerous claims by Facebook users, some of whom allege that he posed as a medical doctor to gain their trust.
The claims surfaced in the comments section of a police social media post seeking public assistance in locating Vusi Century Khumalo of Hluti, who is wanted in connection with a contempt of court matter.
According to police, Khumalo failed to appear in court on May 26, where he was facing a charge under the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act. Following the police appeal, several Facebook users shared their alleged encounters with the wanted man.
One woman claimed that Khumalo introduced himself as a doctor from the United Kingdom and promised to connect her with officials from the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) to assist her in securing employment as a teacher.
She alleged that she later discovered him at the Nhlangano Bus Rank, where he was reportedly playing cards.
Another Facebook user tagged a friend and asked whether she remembered Khumalo. The commenter alleged that he had approached her friend while gambling and introduced himself as a doctor. The same user further claimed that he was frequently seen inside a Khuphuka Ngwane bus.
A third user alleged that Khumalo approached her at Pick n Pay and introduced himself as a doctor working at a private hospital in Mbabane.
She said she became suspicious during their interaction and decided not to pursue any relationship with him.
Another commenter claimed to know the suspect and alleged that he was known for misrepresenting himself as a medical practitioner.
“My friend was called by other tenants after they saw Century ferrying her belongings. He allegedly told them that she was moving because she had secured another job,” the user claimed.
Several other Facebook users expressed frustration in the comments section, with some calling for strict action should the suspect be apprehended.
Police have urged members of the public with information regarding Khumalo’s whereabouts to report it to the nearest police station.
The allegations made by social media users have not been independently verified and Khumalo has not publicly responded to the claims.
