A 48-year-old woman has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, with an option to pay an E800 fine, after pleading guilty to verbally and emotionally abusing the father of her child.
Ncamsile Dlamini appeared before Mbabane Magistrate Xolile Nxumalo, where she faced one count of contravening Section 77(1)(c) of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Act No. 15 of 2018.
According to the charge sheet, the offence was committed on July 31.
The court heard that Dlamini verbally and emotionally abused Vusumuzi Mbhokane, the father of her child.
During the incident, she allegedly struck a door with a crate, demanded that Mbhokane hand over their child and insulted him.
When the charge was put to her, the court explained her right to legal representation.
She elected to conduct her own defence and pleaded guilty to the charge.
In mitigation, Dlamini apologised to the court and pleaded for a lenient sentence. She told the court that she had not intended to commit the offence and promised never to repeat her actions.
Magistrate Nxumalo then sentenced Dlamini to six months’ imprisonment, with an option to pay an E800 fine.
