A vibrant Easter weekend saw South African headliners take over local stages, as revellers turned up in numbers from April 2 to 5.

The momentum started on Thursday as Ladies Night at Mdzimba View Shisanyama set the tone with a sold-out atmosphere, where DJ Maphorisa, Danya Devs and Zaba headlined before a tightly packed crowd.

Long queues stretched from the entrance into the venue, with both the dance floor and VIP sections filled to capacity as fun-lovers ushered in the Easter edition with enthusiasm.

The night carried a charged atmosphere, signalling a promising start to the weekend’s entertainment run.

On Friday, the spotlight shifted to Ocean Cuisine, where Pcee headlined the Sbu De Drum DJ One Man Show Pre-Party. The venue again experienced a strong turnout, with fun-lovers filling the space early and maintaining the vibrant mood established the previous night.

The energy continued to build as revellers embraced back-to-back events, moving seamlessly from one experience to the next. Saturday proved to be the busiest, with multiple events running simultaneously across the country. Mduduzi Ncube and Shawn Stylist headlined the Easter Luxe Experience at Espinho Restaurant & Bar, drawing a stylish crowd that embraced the premium setting.

At the same time, Taxi Festival at Mavuso Trade & Exhibition Centre featured Blaq Major and Hawu Leyntombi, where performances kept revellers engaged despite varying crowd dynamics.

Mdzimba View Shisanyama again hosted another major show, with Daliwonga delivering a performance that left patrons yearning for more as the venue maintained its consistent pull throughout the weekend.

The final stretch on Sunday saw DJ Karri headline the Balcony Groove at Ocean Cuisine, closing off the four-day run with a lively crowd that sustained the festive momentum.

Eswatini Events Managers and Promoters Association (EEMPA) Secretary General Banele Dlamini stated that the sequence of events reflected a coordinated surge in entertainment activity, with audiences showing a strong appetite for live performances across different spaces.

“We have noted a remarkable rise in the number and quality of events being hosted in the country. It shows the country’s readiness to compete regionally in entertainment and event delivery,” he said.

He further highlighted the seasonal impact behind the turnout, noting that the Easter period naturally drives demand for leisure and celebration.

“The kickstart of such a month on a high note is something expected because during Easter people want to enjoy themselves and it is important they get quality experiences,” he added.

Dlamini also pointed to improved standards within the industry, emphasising growing professionalism among organisers.

“We are happy to see organisers keeping their promises and ensuring announced artists perform, which builds public trust,” he said, adding that the back-to-back success of major events reflects steady growth in the country’s entertainment sector.
