As part of its corporate social responsibility programme aimed at providing comfort and support to vulnerable members of the community, Eswatini Mobile has donated 80 blankets worth E20 000 to patients at Mbabane Government Hospital.
The donation was made through the company’s Eswatini Mobile Cares initiative during a handover ceremony held at the hospital yesterday.
Speaking on behalf of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sydney Sichula, Head of Information Technology Genius Sihlongonyane said the blankets symbolised more than just warmth but carried a deeper message.
“These blankets may seem like a simple gift but they carry a much deeper message. They represent compassion, solidarity and our commitment to standing with communities during times when support is needed most,” he said.
Sihlongonyane said hospitals were places where patients and their families often experienced uncertainty and emotional challenges, adding that winter conditions could make an already difficult situation even harder.
He expressed hope that the blankets would provide comfort and reassurance to patients receiving treatment at the facility.
“Today we are not only distributing blankets, we are sharing warmth, care and hope,” he said.
The Eswatini Mobile representative also conveyed the company’s best wishes to patients, encouraging them to remain strong during their recovery journeys.
He further commended healthcare workers at Mbabane Government Hospital for their dedication and commitment to serving patients despite challenging circumstances.
“We would also like to recognise the incredible work carried out by the doctors, nurses, caregivers and support staff of Mbabane Government Hospital. Every day, you dedicate yourselves to serving others,” said Sihlongonyane.
He said Eswatini Mobile believed its role extended beyond providing telecommunications services and included making meaningful contributions to the welfare of communities across the country.

According to Sihlongonyane, the Eswatini Mobile Cares programme continues to support initiatives that uplift communities and improve the lives of Emaswati.
He also thanked the company’s executive committee and staff members for supporting community outreach projects, saying their commitment and generosity made such initiatives possible.
Sihlongonyane further expressed appreciation to members of the media for helping promote stories that highlight compassion, social responsibility and community partnerships.
As the blankets were handed over, he said the company remained grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of patients and their families.
He encouraged members of the public to continue showing kindness and supporting one another, noting that even small acts of generosity could leave a lasting impact on communities.
