Members of Parliament have suggested that Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla should put in place policies that will be used by the next generation, as her shoes will be too big to fill.
This was said by MPs during the debate on the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office first-quarter performance report yesterday.
Deputy Speaker Madala Mhlanga stated that the footprint of the DPM’s Office was evident in all 59 tinkhundla centres, which was laudable. However, he said his biggest concern was what would happen when the DPM’s term ended.
He said Dladla would leave a huge gap that many people would struggle to fill.
He said it was, therefore, necessary to implement policies to ensure that the office continues with the initiative. He added that the policies would be used by the future generation, noting that the DPM was performing well due to her passion for vulnerable people.
“The DPM should leave behind policies and legislation for the future generation to use,” he said.
Motshane MP Wilton Nkambule said the DPM’s Office was now in the right position to ask anything of MPs because of what it had achieved.
He said the DPM’s Office had been strengthened during this term, as it had not been as efficient before.
Nkambule supported Mhlanga and said there should be a policy to serve as a tool to continue the work after Dladla leaves office.
He stated that there should also be policies to sustain the country’s relations with other countries that assist Emaswati.
Timphisini MP Thulani Nsingwane said they had seen the DPM visit the whole country and represent Their Majesties and the nation well.
He said the DPM had restored the hope the nation had lost in government.
He stated that Dladla had represented women well in the position, at a time when many people had lost faith in women’s leadership.
