Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has said the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) remains a pillar of peace, order and national confidence, providing the stability required for the country’s development.
Speaking during the 23rd Police Day celebrations held at the Matsapha Police Academy yesterday, the PM praised the service for its unwavering commitment to protecting the nation and upholding the rule of law over the past 119 years.
Dlamini said the continued dedication of the REPS had enabled the country to enjoy peace and security, which remained fundamental to national progress.
He said the occasion was particularly significant as the nation continued celebrating His Majesty King Mswati III’s 40 years on the throne, noting that the police service had evolved into a modern, disciplined and people-centred institution under the King’s leadership.
According to the PM, the transformation of the service reflected its commitment to professionalism while remaining firmly rooted in the country’s values, traditions and national identity.
He paid tribute to police officers, both serving and retired, for their loyalty, courage and sacrifice in preserving peace, enforcing the law and protecting citizens across the country.
“The Royal Eswatini Police Service remains a pillar of order and national confidence. Its continued advancement in professionalism, capacity, regional cooperation and community service is witness to the wisdom of His Majesty’s leadership and to the steadfast commitment of every officer who serves beneath the national banner,” he said.
Dlamini said policing remained one of the most important public services as it created an environment where citizens could live peacefully, businesses could operate with confidence and development initiatives could thrive.
He further commended the service for continuously strengthening its operational capacity while embracing community policing and cooperation with other law enforcement agencies within the region.
The PM said these efforts had enhanced the service’s ability to respond to emerging security challenges while maintaining public trust.
He also acknowledged the contribution made by generations of police officers whose dedication had strengthened the institution over more than a century of service.
Dlamini reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting the REPS in executing its constitutional mandate and maintaining law and order throughout the country.
