The official State Opening of the 12th Parliament and the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States-European Union (OACPS-EU) conference was a success.

This was shared by key stakeholders who conducted a thorough post-mortem of the recently held national events on Wednesday in Parliament.

Participants discussed how successful the events were and identified areas that needed improvement going forward.

Most stakeholders applauded the nation for being exemplary and for welcoming the delegates warmly during their stay.

Senate President Lindiwe Dlamini said the delegates had openly expressed their satisfaction with the proceedings and the treatment they received.

She also praised the country’s performance, particularly through the construction of the International Convention Centre, Ezulwini Palazzo. She said the guests they hosted could not stop praising the beauty of the hotel, adding that she hoped many more events would be hosted in the country.

Speaker of the House of Assembly Jabulani Mabuza added that both events were a success.

He said he hoped that in upcoming events they would improve on their shortcomings.

He said that from previous events, they had gained experience which enabled them to host even more successful events, especially during the State Opening.

Clerk to Parliament Benedict Xaba said they appreciated all the stakeholders involved. Xaba said Parliament wanted to appreciate the support it received from stakeholders.

He said His Majesty King Mswati III had elevated the country to another level through the Ezulwini Palazzo, adding that many more conferences were still to come.

He said they wanted the whole of Africa to know that events would now be hosted in Eswatini.

“When looking at the current conference centre at the Palazzo, it is one of the best things that has ever happened for Emaswati,” he said.
