EMASWATI working in South Africa returned home with the hope that they would go back once the situation normalises following protests against illegal immigrants.

Some of them have highlighted that although they have proper documentation to remain in that country, they decided to come to Eswatini just to be safe.

One Liswati who spoke on condition of anonymity said there were those who left South Africa without having alerted their employers that they would return.

“Some of us never had the chance of informing our employers that because of the protesters, we were returning home with the intention of coming back once the situation returns to normal.

“We are not sure if we are going to have our jobs when we return,” he said.

He said there was no guarantee that their jobs were safe, but they would constantly be keeping tabs with their colleagues in South Africa.
