Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini and the Republic of Taiwan President Lai Ching-te have reaffirmed the enduring diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Office in Taipei, focused on strengthening cooperation in key sectors, including trade and investment, innovation, digital transformation, healthcare, education, agriculture, renewable energy and youth empowerment.
According to government’s Press Office, during the discussions, Dlamini conveyed warm greetings from His Majesty King Mswati III, Her Majesty the Indlovukazi, government and the people of Eswatini to President Lai and the people of Taiwan.
Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening the long-standing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The leaders reportedly discussed matters of mutual interest and explored opportunities to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including trade and investment, innovation, digital transformation, healthcare, education, agriculture, renewable energy, and youth empowerment.
Meanwhile, The Taiwan News, an online publication, reported that President Lai said Taiwan would continue expanding exchanges with Eswatini through the Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project, under which the two nations were already collaborating in industry, public health and digital transformation.
He said the partnership had also grown in areas such as energy and healthcare, highlighting strategic oil storage facilities as one of the major projects improving the lives of Emaswati.
The president also thanked Eswatini for its unwavering support of Taiwan’s participation in international organisations, noting that His Majesty had urged the international community during last year’s United Nations General Assembly to correctly interpret UN General Assembly Resolution 2758.
