Eswatini TV honours His Majesty King Mswati III and the Indlovukazi’s 40-year reign with a documentary that captures the nation’s journey.

The production reflects on four decades of unity, cultural preservation and national pride, while also recognising the broadcaster’s role in documenting the kingdom’s history for future generations.

Eswatini TV Senior Marketing and Communications Officer Nomcebo Malinga explained that the documentary was created as part of the broadcaster’s responsibility to preserve important national moments beyond daily news coverage.

“It was important for Eswatini TV to produce this documentary because our role goes beyond reporting events and news to actively documenting the nation’s rich history,” she said.

Malinga highlighted that over the past four decades, Eswatini TV has served as a trusted platform that has captured major milestones in the king’s reign, helping to preserve the story of leadership, continuity and national growth.

She noted that the documentary also reflected the broadcaster’s responsibility as a pillar of truth and ethics, by providing reliable information that allowed people to make informed decisions across different sectors.

“This documentary is more than a reflection on the past. It is a national archive that shows leadership, growth, and continuity across generations,” she added.

She stated that the production drew from important moments such as Sibaya, where the king addressed the nation, while also showcasing programmes including ‘Asakhe Kwetfu’, ‘Business Watch’ and ‘Market View’ to show the country’s development over time.

Malinga explained that the documentary balanced tradition and progress by tracing the growth of broadcasting from analogue systems to modern digital platforms, while also preserving traditional structures that remain central to national identity.

She further noted that the documentary was designed to inspire younger generations by telling the story of a young king who took on leadership with great responsibility and guided the nation through transformation and unity.

“Eswatini Television is proud and honoured to continue serving as a custodian of the nation’s visual history throughout the 40-year reign of His Majesty,” she said.

The broadcaster reaffirmed its identity as ‘Sibuko SemaSwati’, describing itself as a lens of the nation at large and a trusted voice that carries the country’s story across generations.

According to Malinga, the documentary also pays tribute to the Indlovukazi, whose leadership is described as a guiding force that has nurtured unity, resilience and cultural pride across generations.

She revealed that through the documentary, the broadcaster seeks to ensure that the nation’s story remains alive, relevant and accessible for years to come.
