Government vehicles are set to go under the hammer as the Ministry of Public Works and Transport stages a public auction on July 29.

The auction will begin at 9am and is open to members of the public who complete the registration process before the sale.

According to the Ministry’s Principal Secretary Thulani Mkhaliphi, vehicle viewing and bidder registration will be conducted on July 27 and 28 at the CTA offices in the Dlanubeka Building, located at the corner of Mdada and Lalufadlwane streets in Mbabane. Registration will be open from 9am to 3pm on both days.

Mkhaliphi said bidders will be required to pay a refundable registration deposit of E5 000 before taking part in the auction. The deposit will be refunded if a bidder is unsuccessful.

Moreover, he said successful bidders would be required to pay the outstanding balance through Revenue Offices or by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). The ministry also advised that no bidder will be allowed to participate without completing the registration process and obtaining a bidder’s card.

Vehicles on offer include sedans manufactured between 2009 and 2015, pick-up trucks dating from 1998 to 2014, SUVs manufactured between 2006 and 2018, kombis, double cabs, a Nissan UD80 truck and motorcycles. The vehicles include brands such as Toyota, Isuzu, Ford, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Kia, Chevrolet, BMW, Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki.

Mkhaliphi stated that all vehicles will be sold on an ‘as is’ basis, meaning buyers will purchase them in their current condition. Repairs will not be permitted within the auction premises.

“All purchased vehicles must be paid for in full and removed from the premises within 14 working days,” he said.

He said that the Central Transport Administration also reminded prospective buyers that only the E5 000 registration fee will be accepted at CTA offices, while all remaining payments must be made through Revenue Offices or EFT.

Mkhaliphi then said members of the public interested in participating have been encouraged to inspect the vehicles during the viewing period and familiarise themselves with the auction terms and conditions before bidding.
